The West Bengal government has launched an ambitious initiative to electrify 1,000 schools across the state using solar energy. Energy Minister Md Ghulam Rabbani made this announcement during a session in the assembly on Friday.
The plan is part of the state's broader strategy to harness non-conventional energy resources, such as solar, wind, and hydel power, to meet electricity demands and reduce reliance on thermal power. Minister Rabbani emphasized the importance of promoting green energy in educational institutions.
Addressing a query by BJP MLA Partha Sarathi Chattopadhyay, Rabbani mentioned the considerable potential for utilizing tidal energy to generate electricity. He assured that any viable proposal from potential bidders would receive serious consideration.
