Sitharaman Pushes for Streamlined GST Registration and Faster Trade Facilitation

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has called on the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to utilize technology and risk-based parameters to make GST registration more accessible and transparent for taxpayers.
During a conclave with CBIC officials, Sitharaman reviewed Customs and CGST zone performances and directed improvements in GST registration and taxpayer grievance handling. She emphasized the significance of mandatory documentation and the need for an efficient helpdesk to assist with GST registration applications.
Sitharaman also stressed the importance of Customs and GST Seva Kendras being well-staffed and accessible, and urged the expeditious resolution of disciplinary matters and the filling of vacant CBIC positions to enhance administrative efficiency.
