Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde on Saturday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing global recognition to the International Day of Yoga, celebrating its 11th edition. Shinde highlighted how Modi's initiative a decade ago at the United Nations led to this prestigious day worldwide.

Adding a political spin to the celebration, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief, Eknath Shinde, referred to his 2022 rebellion against the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena as a monumental 'bada Yoga'. He stated that this political upheaval marked June 21 as the beginning of a transformative 'marathon yoga' session, resulting in stability and progress for Maharashtra.

Shinde pointed out the historical split that led to the fall of the Thackeray government, emphasizing the collaborative efforts with Devendra Fadnavis under Modi's guidance. He credited PM Modi not only for institutionalizing International Yoga Day but also for his active role in promoting the practice as a part of daily life, symbolizing health and strength for India.
