In a groundbreaking initiative, the Dantewada administration has teamed up with the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation (STF) and the Mann Deshi Foundation to develop 50 playgrounds in an effort to boost sports in the district. Once severely affected by Naxalism, the region aims to offer new opportunities for children.
District Magistrate Kunal Dudawat announced on Saturday that 20 of the playgrounds are already complete, as part of the Maidan Cup initiative. With the backing of Sachin Tendulkar and coordinated efforts by the Mann Deshi Foundation, sports teachers are being trained to identify the potential of young athletes.
District Education Officer Sohan Kumar Ambasht highlighted the initiative's ambition to recognize and harness students' sports potential, with projects in 50 schools. This transformative project is not only set to aid over 10,000 children but also intends to promote gender equality with 40% female participation.
