Amid rising concerns over narco-terrorism, the Amritsar Rural Police achieved a significant victory by dismantling a cross-border drug smuggling network on Saturday. Key operatives Lovepreet Singh, known as 'Love', and Balwinder Singh, known as 'Bobby', were apprehended in a swift, intelligence-led operation, as announced by the DGP Punjab Police on X, formerly known as Twitter.
This operation highlights Punjab's unwavering commitment to fighting drug-related terrorism. Acting on credible intelligence, the police detained the suspects and seized 6.15 kg of heroin, a PX5 pistol with four live rounds, and Rs 10,000 of drug money. Investigations revealed their direct communication with a Pakistan-based smuggler via WhatsApp, signaling a robust cross-border nexus.
Notably, in May, the Amritsar Police executed another successful drug bust, arresting three individuals linked to an international trafficking ring. These efforts are part of Punjab's ongoing anti-drug campaign aimed at dismantling narco networks across the state. As the crackdown intensifies, Punjab Police remain resolute in eradicating drug syndicates and securing the state's youth and society from this peril.
