Andhra Pradesh's Education Minister, Nara Lokesh, hailed the state's efforts to potentially set a world record during the International Yoga Day celebration in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. An event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi drew more than two lakh participants, aligning with announcements of yoga observances across Andhra Pradesh's schools.
Minister Lokesh expressed immense pride in Andhra Pradesh's showcase under the auspices of Prime Minister Modi, who has championed the yoga movement for over a decade. He highlighted the participation of an estimated 2.8 to 3 lakh attendees, eagerly awaiting confirmation of the final tally.
Addressing a vast assembly of yoga practitioners, Prime Minister Modi emphasized yoga as a means to global peace during the 11th International Day of Yoga. He called for the worldwide adoption of yoga as both a personal practice and a conduit for international solidarity and cooperation. Against the backdrop of the picturesque Visakhapatnam shoreline, Modi envisioned yoga as a universal movement toward harmony.
The Prime Minister stressed the transformative potential of yoga, urging for its integration into daily life as a path toward tranquility and balance. Recalling India's 2014 United Nations proposal to establish June 21 as International Yoga Day, which garnered global backing, Modi underscored yoga's role in fostering global peace and collaboration.
