Vice-President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, paid tribute to Syama Prasad Mukherjee on Monday, recognizing the significance of Mukherjee's contributions on his Balidan Diwas. Dhankhar criticized Article 370 and 35A for their detrimental effects on Jammu and Kashmir, commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their decisive action in abrogating these articles.
Speaking at the 99th Annual Meet and National Conference of Vice Chancellors organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, Dhankhar highlighted the transformative potential of the National Education Policy 2020. He described it as a bold and civilizational reaffirmation, advocating for education as a key equalizer that fosters democracy and erases inequalities.
Dhankhar also applauded the Government of Uttar Pradesh for initiatives enhancing educational transparency and providing the IT sector with industry status. He emphasized the urgency of developing greenfield institutions to ensure equitable educational access across India and called on universities to lead in innovation and in addressing emerging global challenges.
