Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday inaugurated the AIC-NITIE Incubation Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai. This centre is poised to act as a transformative platform, driving innovation, supporting early-stage startups, and fostering self-reliance under the national 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' mission.
As part of his visit, Singh addressed an esteemed gathering at IIM Mumbai's Leadership Series, themed 'Viksit Bharat: India's Startup Strides over the Last Decade and the Way Forward.' The AIC-NIFIE, established under the Atal Innovation Mission, offers comprehensive support to innovators and entrepreneurs, focusing on mentorship, industry connections, and access to research and technology. It will collaborate closely with startups in pivotal sectors like manufacturing, supply chain, sustainability, and digital transformation, crucial for India's economic advancement.
Singh underscored the vital role of academic institutions, such as IIM Mumbai, in bridging gaps between policy, research, and entrepreneurship. He remarked, 'Innovation is the backbone of a developed India. Centres like AIC-NIFIE will be instrumental in turning India's demographic dividend into tangible economic growth.' IIM Mumbai Director Prof Manoj K Tiwari echoed this sentiment, noting the centre's potential to foster a dynamic innovation ecosystem aligned with the institute's mission of impactful thought leadership, research, and entrepreneurship.
This initiative solidifies IIM Mumbai's dedication to national development by supporting startup ecosystems, launching 14 startups to date, undertaking industry-driven research, and creating new knowledge economies. (ANI)
