As anticipation builds for the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025, the Punjab Police has launched a robust inter-agency security strategy to ensure the safety of pilgrims traversing sensitive regions, especially Pathankot. Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla announced the plan on Wednesday, focusing on advanced surveillance and strategic deployment measures.
The annual pilgrimage, commencing on July 3, 2025, and concluding on August 9, 2025, attracts devotees nationwide. The Punjab Police, alongside the Army and other security agencies, convened in Pathankot for a high-level meeting to enhance security protocols, addressing critical considerations such as police deployment and disaster management.
Given Pathankot's strategic border location with Pakistan and key defense facilities, heightened security measures are vital, emphasized Special DGP Shukla. Commandant-level officers have been appointed to oversee security sectors along the Yatra route, supported by 24/7 command centers and advanced monitoring technologies. Coordination among multiple security forces aims to manage threats effectively and ensure the pilgrimage proceeds smoothly.
