Himachal Pradesh Issues Monsoon Advisory for Public Safety

The Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police has released a public advisory to enhance monsoon preparedness. It highlights the elevated risks of floods, landslides, and cloudbursts in mountainous regions, urging residents to exercise caution.

The advisory recommends against unnecessary travel during heavy rains, particularly near hills, rivers, and low-lying areas. It urges residents to stay updated on weather forecasts and alerts from the Meteorological Department and local authorities.

Citizens are encouraged to save emergency contacts like police and disaster response teams, keep mobile phones charged, and stock essential supplies such as dry food, water, and medicines. Residents near rivers and dams are advised to avoid swollen water bodies during rain and prepare for potential evacuations.

Hydropower authorities must monitor reservoir water levels closely and coordinate with district administrations before releases. They should ensure functioning alert systems to inform communities. Tourists and water sports operators, especially in Kullu, Bilaspur, and Una districts, are advised to halt activities during bad weather and adhere to safety guidelines.

District SPs must ensure emergency teams are ready and inspect vulnerable locations regularly. Public helpline numbers should be shared, and officers must act swiftly during emergencies. Cooperation from the public is requested to prevent misinformation.
