In a significant move for the renewable energy sector, AM Green BV announced it will acquire a 17.5% stake in Greenko Energy Holdings from Japan's Orix Corp for USD 1.28 billion. This transaction is a pivotal step in expanding AM Green's stake to approximately 25% in Greenko, strengthening its position in the sector.
Orix Corp had initially invested in March 2021, supporting Greenko's growth in renewable energy power generation in India. The Japanese firm, as part of its capital recycling strategy, is now diversifying into next-generation molecules, including green hydrogen and ammonia, through investment in AMG Lux.
Following the deal, AM Green plans an industrial complex in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, aiming for substantial production in green ammonia and hydrogen, alongside synthetic fuels. The project aligns with its vision of establishing a global integrated green energy platform.
