Himachal Pradesh is reeling under the impact of relentless rainfall, with widespread disruptions including landslides, home inundations, and blocked roads. Among the worst-affected areas is the Shimla-Sunni-Karsog highway, which has been entirely obstructed near Devidhar, 35 kilometers from Shimla, halting dozens of vehicles and stranding numerous commuters.
At the landslide site, vehicles stretched into long queues as efforts to clear the blockage had yet to commence. Local residents and travelers expressed mounting frustration as landslides continued to unpredictably occur in various locations. One commuter, Ajay, recounted his experience of being stuck, narrating the dangers posed by sudden landslides.
Meanwhile, panic permeates among both the stranded and state residents, with reports of homes and shops being flooded and additional landslides in other districts. While government and disaster management agencies are anticipated to issue advisories, the lack of immediate official response has compounded anxieties.
