The State Transport Department of Tripura has introduced an unprecedented initiative aimed at enhancing road safety and emergency response systems throughout the state. For the first time in Tripura's history, 16 ambulances equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) systems have been secured to ensure rapid transportation of road accident victims during the critical 'golden hour.'
This strategic move includes the allocation of 8 ambulances to Police Stations while the remaining 8 are designated for Fire and Emergency Services in various areas. This initiative represents a significant step in modernizing the state's emergency transport infrastructure. During a formal ceremony in Agartala, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated the project, calling it a 'new era in the history of road safety measures' for the region.
The initiative is further bolstered by the launch of the 'Vehicle Tracking Platform for Safety & Enforcement,' mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This cutting-edge digital system aims to ensure women's safety by tracking public transport vehicles in real-time, featuring Vehicle Location Tracking Devices and Emergency Buttons.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, the driving force behind this development, described it as a significant step forward for both public safety and technological advancement in Tripura's transport infrastructure. The event was attended by notable figures, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, and has been celebrated as a historic achievement for Tripura's transportation and public safety sector.
This progressive initiative not only reinforces emergency response systems in Tripura but also sets an exemplary precedent for other Northeastern states to enhance road safety and public transport monitoring.
