Political tensions rise as Congress National General Secretary KC Venugopal firmly rejects the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) proposal to amend the Indian Constitution, specifically targeting the words 'Secular and Socialist.' Venugopal emphasized that alterations to these fundamental principles will not be tolerated by the nation.

The controversy erupted after RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale called for a reevaluation of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Constitution's Preamble. This demand was echoed by Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, accusing the RSS of trying to alter the Constitution and referencing their historical opposition during the constituent assembly debates.

Hosabale, addressing an event on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, argued that 'Socialism' and 'Secularism' were forcibly inserted into the Constitution during that period. He criticized past leaders for abusing power during the Emergency, demanding an apology for past actions. The situation remains tense as Congress contemplates potential actions against RSS.
