In the wake of a devastating explosion at Sigachi Pharma Industries in Telangana's Sangareddy district, which has claimed 34 lives and injured many more, concerns over industrial safety have surged to the forefront. BRS leader K Kavitha met with victims at Dhruva Hospital in Patancheru, vehemently criticizing what she describes as government negligence leading to this tragedy.
Kavitha, urging immediate aid, insisted on Rs 1 crore compensation for the deceased's families. She said the disaster highlights severe lapses in safety protocols and urged the government to release hospital funds swiftly. The presence of minors among the workers fuels further outrage, prompting demands for transparency and truth regarding the incident.
Responding to the incident, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy pledged Rs 1 crore to the families of the deceased and announced a comprehensive inquiry into the explosion. He called for new regulations and accountability mechanisms to avert similar occurrences and emphasized the need for fresh evaluations rather than reliance on past reports, amidst growing concerns over possible compliance lapses at the factory.
