Courier Ruse: Woman Raped in Pune Flat Sparks Massive Manhunt

A woman in Pune's Kondhwa area was allegedly raped by a man who masqueraded as a courier agent, police said on Thursday. The disturbing crime has led to the registration of an offence under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Kondhwa Police Station.
Zone 5 Pune City Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajkumar Shinde stated that the assailant entered the 22-year-old woman's flat around 7:30 pm under the guise of delivering a bank envelope. As the woman turned away to fetch a pin for the supposed delivery, the man shut the door and attacked her, rendering her unconscious for several hours.
Authorities disclosed that the attacker took a selfie using the victim's phone, leaving a message that he intended to return. Following the incident, forensic specialists examined the scene for any chemical substances. Meanwhile, Pune Police have mobilized 10 teams to capture the suspect, analyzing CCTV footage and his digital footprint.
