The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has given the nod to ten critical capital acquisition proposals, totaling approximately Rs 1.05 lakh crore. This round of approvals focuses on the procurement of indigenously developed quick reaction surface-to-air missiles and naval vessels, among other critical defense systems.
Meeting for the first time post-Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, the DAC ensured India's strategic defense posture remains robust without crossing international boundaries. The Ministry of Defence stated that these procurement efforts are intended to enhance mobility, air defense, and supply chain efficiency within the armed forces.
The Ministry further confirmed that additional approvals have been granted for Moored Mines and countermeasure vessels to mitigate risks to naval and merchant ships. With the procurement value at roughly Rs 30,000 crore, the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air missile system stands as a key focus, promising to bolster the Indian Army's defense capabilities.
