Swiss crop protection giant Syngenta aims to dominate the global biologicals sector, fueled by its steadfast performance in India despite regulatory challenges hindering agricultural innovation.
In an exclusive conversation with PTI, Steven Hawkins, Global President of Syngenta Crop Protection, described India's unpredictable regulatory environment as a barrier to delivering new technologies in the country's tightly controlled crop-protection market.
Despite these obstacles, Hawkins emphasized the importance of the Indian market, citing its growth potential and adaptability to new technologies. Syngenta intends to launch novel products like Tymirium, Adepidyn, and Plinazolin, while supporting a regulated framework for biologicals to prevent market disruptions. Investment in digital solutions and leveraging India's Make in India initiative further underscore Syngenta's commitment to the region.
