In response to disturbing allegations of mass crimes in the temple town of Dharmasthala, Karnataka's Home Minister G Parameshwara assures that the government awaits a comprehensive report from the newly constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) before taking further action.

The state's decision to form an SIT follows a request from the Karnataka State Women's Commission, urging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to investigate alleged incidents of mass murder, rape, and clandestine burials over the past two decades. These claims, initially brought to light by a media report, have led to intensified scrutiny of the situation.

A former sanitation worker from the Dharmasthala temple, whose identity remains protected for security reasons, has filed a complaint alleging forced involvement in the secret disposal of bodies. He expressed willingness to cooperate with authorities if provided legal protection. An official investigation is now underway, with further developments contingent on the SIT's findings.
