In a recent report, government data unveiled that more than 10,800 Anganwadi centres across India were open for less than 20 percent of working days in June 2025. In contrast, over 12.7 lakh centres functioned smoothly for at least 80 percent of the month.

According to the data presented by Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, the situation marks an improvement from June 2024, when nearly 30,000 centres operated below the 20 percent mark.

The report highlighted specific states with a significant number of poorly functioning centers, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur. Meanwhile, regions like Goa, Delhi, and Chandigarh demonstrated better performance.
