A Delhi court has indicted AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan and 10 others for alleged improprieties concerning appointments at the Delhi Waqf Board. Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh announced charges including conspiracy and corruption for Khan, the former CEO of the board, alongside Mahboob Alam, with other accused facing conspiracy charges.
The court articulated the charges against Amanatullah Khan, Mahboob Alam, and others, yet awaits the formal detailing of its order. All accused pleaded not guilty, prompting the court to set dates for Prosecution evidence collection in mid-August 2023.
The CBI had previously named the accused in an August 2022 charge sheet. Allegations suggest appointments during Khan's chairmanship didn't adhere to protocol, benefiting associates and relatives. Bail had been granted to the defendants while awaiting trial.
