Delhi CM Demands Probe Over Barapullah Road Project Delays

In a decisive move, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta convened a high-level meeting to address the ongoing concerns surrounding the Barapullah Elevated Road project. The meeting, led by Gupta, focused on discrepancies in the project's execution and the substantial Rs 175 crore payment made to the contractor, with orders for an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Branch.

The elevated road, meant to connect Barapullah Nallah to Mayur Vihar Phase-III through Sarai Kale Khan, has faced prolonged delays and inefficiencies attributed to the negligence of the Public Works Department (PWD) under the previous administration. PWD Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh attended the meeting alongside senior officials who informed Gupta about expected permissions for tree removal, forecast to significantly improve project pace.

CM Rekha Gupta criticized the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's handling of the project, citing repeated delays and mismanagement, leading to arbitration that favored the contractor with Rs 120 crore. Gupta vowed not to tolerate further delays and guaranteed sufficient budget to ensure timely completion of a project crucial for smoothing Delhi's traffic flow.
