On Tuesday, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha speech, expressing dissatisfaction over the lack of a clear disavowal of US President Donald Trump's claims about mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He stressed the importance of the government explicitly affirming Trump's non-involvement in the issue.
Chidambaram highlighted that Congress never demanded proof of Pakistan's role in warfare but sought clarity on the origins of the terrorists, questioning whether they were homegrown or had crossed from Pakistan. He emphasized the need for the government to address potential shortcomings in Operation Sindoor and outline lessons learned, ensuring accountability.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav critiqued PM Modi, underlining the BJP's blindness to China's looming threat. He called out the party's failure to protect Indian markets and borders from Chinese encroachment and questioned India's status as a self-reliant nation, arguing it has become a trading hub.
