Arunachal Pradesh has taken a monumental step in transforming its horticulture sector, as highlighted by Chief Minister Pema Khandu. This evolution has propelled the state to the forefront in the production of kiwi, mandarin oranges, and large cardamom in India, establishing it as a leader in the industry.
The state, which has achieved the status of the largest kiwi producer with over 7,000 metric tonnes, is also the first in India to receive organic certification for the fruit. Additionally, it ranks second nationally in mandarin orange production, logging an impressive 84,000 metric tonnes. In the North Eastern Region, Arunachal Pradesh leads in large cardamom output with a yield of 4,467 metric tonnes.
The state's export efforts have borne fruit, literally, with Dambuk-grown oranges now being exported to the United Arab Emirates. Khandu attributed these achievements to the new Horticulture Policy 2025–35, highlighting its role in driving agricultural transformation focused on sustainability, dignity, and opportunity.
