Union Minister JP Nadda has leveled sharp criticism at the previous Congress-led UPA government, accusing it of inaction and a lack of strong response to repeated terror attacks during its tenure. Nadda, speaking in the Rajya Sabha, highlighted the administration's tendency to continue confidence-building initiatives with Pakistan despite ongoing terrorist assaults.

Nadda specifically pointed to incidents like the 2005 Delhi Serial bombings, the 2006 Varanasi attacks, and the Mumbai train bombings, stating that despite these tragedies, trade and tourism with Pakistan carried on uninterrupted. He also criticized the lack of mention of the 2008 Mumbai attacks in international forums, attributing this to a lack of political will.

Contrasting this with the period after 2014, Nadda underscored the current government's decisive measures, including the surgical strikes following the 2016 Uri attack, which he cited as an example of strong political will to combat terrorism. He praised the government for halting terror attacks across India, except in Jammu and Kashmir.
