Tensions ran high in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday as opposition MPs exited the chamber in protest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's absence during a significant discussion. The meeting was expected to address pressing questions regarding Operation Sindoor, an initiative capturing national attention.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale dismissed the opposition's demands, affirming to ANI that parliamentary protocol doesn't necessitate a response solely from the Prime Minister. Instead, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, regarded as a senior figure, provided a comprehensive address on the matter, Athawale noted.
Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge voiced disappointment, stressing the necessity for accountability from the Prime Minister, who had addressed similar concerns in the Lok Sabha just the day before. The session ended in a walkout led by disgruntled opposition members, amid exchanges between Kharge, Deputy Chairman Harivansh, and Home Minister Shah.
