Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani concluded his 39-year-long military service on Thursday as he stepped down from his role as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff. This milestone event marked the end of a prestigious career that began at the National Defence Academy and saw him commission into The Garhwal Rifles in December 1985, according to the Ministry of Defence.
Known for his outstanding academic achievements, General Subramani earned a Master of Arts degree from King's College, London, and an M.Phil. in Defence Studies from the University of Madras. His career was marked by various significant command, staff, and instructional roles across different operational terrains, particularly focusing on the Western and Northern borders. His expertise in strategic and tactical military operations significantly enhanced India's operational readiness and security, the ministry noted.
Throughout his service, General Subramani was honored with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal for his exceptional contributions.
