In a significant push for enhanced road safety measures, Bhopal district has taken a stern step by mandating that fuel stations refuse service to two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets. This new policy, aimed at reinforcing traffic regulations and minimizing fatalities from road accidents, came into effect citywide today.

Fuel station staff members have expressed facing unique situations due to the directive. Shailendra Kumar Singh, a petrol pump employee, shared incidents where customers have resorted to exchanging helmets to acquire fuel legally. Despite pleas from staff to abide by the rules, some customers argue, but the stations remain firm in their enforcement, Singh told ANI.

Lalit, a local resident, strongly endorsed the rule, citing personal experiences where helmets proved life-saving in accidents. Expressing unawareness of the directive, residents are increasingly acknowledging its importance for ensuring personal safety while riding.
