The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for three districts in Himachal Pradesh, signalling a continuation of heavy rainfall over the coming days. This alert is issued as monsoon rains persist, having already drenched the state considerably over the past week.
According to Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Senior Scientist at IMD Himachal Pradesh, the Chuwadi area in Chamba district has experienced particularly intense rainfall. Kullu, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur have seen moderate precipitation, with Chamba's Chuwadi area recording an impressive 57 mm, followed by Banjar in Kullu with 52 mm and Naina Devi in Bilaspur with 43 mm.
The IMD predicts that the rainfall will continue in the state's mid-hill and lower regions, prompting an orange alert for Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi districts on August 1. Kullu, Bilaspur, Una, and Hamirpur are under a yellow alert, with rainfall expected to persist through August.
