In a ceremony held in Guwahati, Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment and Information & Public Relations, Pijush Hazarika, handed out job offer letters to 233 trainees from the North-East Skill Development Centre. These individuals were trained under the Assam Skill Development Mission, an initiative aimed at enhancing employability in the region.

Of the 233 recipients, 114 hailed from Scheduled Castes, benefiting from free training in various skilled trades provided through the Directorate for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backwards Classes. Over the past year, these trainees completed their training, with 54 securing jobs abroad and others receiving offers from prestigious organizations within India.

Minister Hazarika urged the trainees to seize these opportunities and underscored the importance of skill-based education in today's world, a vision backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. For 2025-26, plans are in place to provide skill development training for an additional 240 Scheduled Caste students.
