Bapatla Police Bust Nationwide Fake Website Scam
Bapatla District Police, assisted by the NCRB, dismantled a major cybercrime ring linked to fake websites impersonating major tourist and temple sites across India. Two men from Rajasthan were arrested for creating counterfeit websites and defrauding thousands, leading to 127 complaints and ₹46 lakh in frauds.

Bapatla District Police have scored a significant victory in the fight against cybercrime by dismantling a gang that operated fake websites nationwide, an official statement revealed. Two suspects from Rajasthan were apprehended for crafting counterfeit sites masquerading as popular tourist and temple destinations, deceiving unsuspecting individuals.
The gang went as far as creating a replica of the official Haritha Resorts site, operated by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, to swindle tourists, according to a press release. Additionally, they imitated websites of renowned sites such as Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and Srisailam Devasthanam, among others.
With multiple cases registered against them in Rajasthan and over 127 complaints filed in 18 states, the scale of the operation was vast. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi, special units were established to take down this cybercrime network. Investigations are ongoing to uncover additional offenses by those apprehended.
