Rashtriya Janata Dal leader, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, has raised allegations against the Election Commission of India, claiming alterations to his Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number and the removal of his name from the draft electoral rolls. However, ECI sources firmly reject these assertions, clarifying that Yadav's name appears on the draft list with EPIC No. RAB0456228 as it did in previous elections, and no alternate EPIC number existed officially.
Further probing by the ECI into Yadav's allegations has found the second EPIC number cited by him, RAB2916120, to be non-existent. A decade's worth of records reveal no creation of this EPIC number through official channels, indicating potential forgery, ECI officials suggest. This reignites debates on transparency and accuracy in the voter registration process.
Amidst the ongoing disputes, Bihar's District Administration has verified Yadav's voter registration at polling station number 204, reinforcing the ECI's stance. The controversy highlights ongoing scrutiny of Bihar's electoral processes as the state approaches upcoming elections, with Yadav accusing ECI of mishandling and unfairness, a claim ECI continues to deny.
