15-Year-Old Odisha Girl Dies After Harrowing Burn Attack

A tragic incident unfolded in Odisha as a 15-year-old girl succumbed to severe injuries on Saturday after being allegedly set ablaze by miscreants last month. The victim, who sustained 75% burns, was initially treated at AIIMS Bhubaneswar before being airlifted to AIIMS New Delhi, where she was admitted to the Burn ICU.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep condolences following her death. In a post on X, he highlighted the government's and medical team's relentless efforts to save her life, while praying for the girl's soul and her family's strength to cope with the tragic loss.

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also lamented the incident in a public statement. She described the situation as unexpected and unfortunate, affirming the exhaustive measures taken by the authorities to avert this loss and extending her sympathies to the bereaved family during this time of sorrow.

Concurrently, Odisha police advised against making sensitive remarks as investigations near their end, confirming no involvement of additional parties in the girl's tragic ordeal. The police narrative suggests she was abducted, taken to a riverside, and set on fire. The severely injured girl managed to reach a nearby house where she received urgent medical assistance.
