In a significant political move, Congress MP Mallu Ravi has tabled an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, urging a debate over the 42% reservation for OBCs in local bodies across Telangana. This motion comes after the state government, following a comprehensive caste census, sanctioned the reservation, which now awaits approval from the President.

Mallu Ravi explained to ANI, "Today, I have submitted an adjournment motion to the Lok Sabha Secretary-General to highlight a crucial issue for Telangana. The state government has enacted a 42% reservation for OBCs post a scientific caste survey. This legislation, forwarded to the Governor, is currently pending the President's nod." He elaborated that the erstwhile reservation ceiling of 50% was lifted to facilitate this move.

Ravi further informed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with several legislators, intends to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar, urging the central government to obtain prompt approval for the ordinances. Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also reiterated support for the initiative, noting that high-profile Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, would join their delegation in Delhi from August 5 to 7.
