Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Shatabdi Roy arrived in Ranchi to take part in the last rites of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Roy, attending on behalf of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and senior party leader Derek O'Brien, expressed that Soren was one of the few leaders who significantly impacted people's lives. Speaking to ANI, Roy emphasized the enduring legacy of Soren in the annals of history.

On the same occasion, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the profound loss felt by Jharkhand and its leadership. Singh, representing AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, extended condolences to Soren's family, acknowledging his foundational role in shaping the state of Jharkhand through his persistent commitment to its welfare and struggle for tribal rights. The last rites are set to take place in Soren's native village, Nemra, in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district.

Public mourning was evident with a large gathering at Soren's Ranchi residence, offering final respects to the JMM patriarch. Shibu Soren, who passed away on August 4 after prolonged illness, was legendary for his fight against injustice and leadership in establishing a separate tribal state. Born to a Santhal Adivasi family in 1944, Soren's early life fueled his resolve for advocating tribal rights. His political journey, spanning over four decades, witnessed significant milestones, including multiple terms in Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha and his role as Coal Minister under the UPA government. His dedication has solidified JMM's standing as Jharkhand's most popular party.
