The Rouse Avenue court on Tuesday advanced the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act (MCOCA) proceedings against former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan and other accused, connected with a sophisticated crime network managed by absconding criminal Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu.

In a related directive, the court instructed the Delhi police to accelerate their ongoing investigation and submit a supplemental charge sheet against implicated individual Amandeep Singh Lochab before the forthcoming hearing on August 23, led by Special Judge (MP-MLA).

Balyan remains in custody after his arrest on December 4, 2024. He faces charges following a supplementary charge sheet on February 24 under sections 3 and 4 of the MCOC Act. The case also implicates Vikas Gehlot and his wife Veenita under Arms Act Section 25, linked to the illegal movement of firearms. A pending bail petition for Balyan awaits Delhi High Court's decision.
