Tragedy in Mohali: Oxygen Cylinder Blast Claims Two Lives

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced his personal oversight of the situation following a fatal explosion at an oxygen cylinder and firecracker unit in Mohali's Industrial Area Phase 9, which claimed the lives of two workers and left three more injured. In a message posted on X, Mann stated that the government has deployed administrative teams at the accident site and is keeping him updated on the rescue efforts.

The incident occurred around 9 am, when an initial explosion at the unit supposedly ignited a chain reaction among nearby oxygen cylinders. Officials at the scene reported two deaths, with victims identified as Asif and Devender, and three others injured. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Speaking to ANI, Mohali Sub-Divisional Magistrate Damandeep Kaur confirmed the details and added that the bodies had been sent for post-mortem examination.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Harsimran Singh Bal, who inspected the site, echoed the accounts and noted the devastating impact of the repeated explosions. SP City Sirivennela elaborated that the preliminary investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause, and there might be residual hazards from cylinder leakage. A detailed inquiry and further investigations are in progress to establish accountability.
