In a significant step towards modernizing India's governance infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Kartavya Bhavan at Delhi's Kartavya Path. Accompanied by the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, PM Modi inspected the state-of-the-art facility, which marks a milestone in the broader Central Vista transformation initiative.
The Kartavya Bhavan-03 is the first in a series of Common Central Secretariat buildings designed to revolutionize administrative efficiency and policy execution. It aims to streamline government processes by bringing various key Ministries under one roof, thus enhancing inter-ministerial coordination. The facility is intended to foster a more agile and responsive administrative ecosystem, according to a press release from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Current government offices operate from outdated structures built between the 1950s and 1970s. The new complex not only reduces maintenance costs but boosts productivity and employee well-being. Notably, Kartavya Bhavan-03 will house the offices of several important Ministries and Departments, including Home Affairs, External Affairs, and Rural Development, across its expansive, modern architecture.
Advancing the government's sustainability agenda, the building targets a GRIHA-4 rating, featuring environmentally friendly technologies like rooftop solar panels and advanced HVAC systems. It focuses on reducing energy consumption and environmental impact, exemplifying a commitment to eco-consciousness with its zero-discharge waste management and energy-efficient infrastructure.
Among its many green initiatives, the facility boasts solar panels expected to generate over 5.34 lakh units of electricity annually. It also includes charging stations for electric vehicles, signifying a push towards sustainable transportation solutions. As part of a public program on the Kartavya Path, the Prime Minister addressed the gathering, underscoring the project's pivotal role in India's development journey.
