A Naxal's body and an arsenal of arms and ammunition were discovered in Bijapur's Western Division following an encounter with security forces, a senior police official reported. The operation unfolded amid intensified efforts to counter insurgency in Bijapur, a district renowned for ongoing Naxal activities within the Bastar division.
Inspector General of Bastar, P Sundarraj, confirmed the recovery, stating, "The body of a Naxal and arms and ammunition have been recovered in the Western Division area of District Bijapur during an encounter by security forces." This follows a similar incident on July 30, where security personnel neutralized a Naxal operative in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district.
P Sundarraj further detailed the operation, revealing the elimination of a Naxalite identified as a Kerlapal Area Committee Member, who carried a bounty of Rs 5 lakh. The Donginpara encounter also resulted in injuries to three District Reserve Guard jawans, caused by a pressure IED blast. A Barrel Grenade Launcher, a significant cache of explosives, and other Maoist materials were seized from the site of the skirmish. (ANI)
