A top-level delegation from the Philippines met with APEDA and the Indian Rice Exporters Federation to boost imports of key Indian food products, according to industry officials on Wednesday.
The Philippines has committed to prioritizing increased imports of rice, buffalo meat, vegetables, fruits, and peanuts from India, as confirmed by Indian Rice Exporters Federation Chairman Prem Garg.
Led by Secretary of Agriculture Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., the Philippine delegation focused on strengthening agricultural ties and diversifying supply chains to reduce reliance on Chinese products, according to the Indian Rice Exporters Federation. IREF Vice President Dev Garg highlighted an agreement to eliminate restrictions on Basmati rice imports, marking significant advancement in Indo-Philippine relations.
