The relentless monsoon rains are causing rivers in Northern India, including the Yamuna in Delhi, to swell beyond warning marks. As river levels peak, regions like Uttar Pradesh are facing severe flooding and waterlogging, disrupting daily life and raising concerns about more severe flood impacts in the coming days.

In the Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh, heavy downpours have led to the Ganga River approaching dangerous levels, prompting authorities to impose bans on boat operations in Varanasi's Tulsi Ghat for safety reasons. In response to surging water levels from continuous mountain rains, strategies to mitigate flood impacts are being enforced.

Himachal Pradesh is among the states severely affected, reporting 199 fatalities due to rain-triggered disasters between June 20 and August 6. The State Disaster Management Authority highlights challenges, including landslides, flash floods, and infrastructure damage, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to address ongoing and future monsoon hazards.
