In the flood-ravaged areas of Dharali and Harsil, rescue operations persist as 75 individuals were successfully evacuated on Friday, while 49 remain missing. A body was recovered, as authorities endeavor to meet the daily evacuation target of 300, stated District Magistrate Prashant Arya.
Thursday's operations saw nearly 400 people evacuated from the flood-hit zones. Relief efforts commenced with the distribution of essential items, while community kitchens were established to cater to those displaced. Medical camps, set up by the state health department, local volunteers, and the Army, provide urgent care as road restoration and electricity repairs progress under the state Chief Minister's supervision.
The Indian Army and Air Force intensified rescue missions in Harsil, rescuing a total of 357 civilians thus far, including 119 airlifted to Dehradun. Over 105 NDRF personnel, alongside SDRF and ITBP teams, work tirelessly on the ground, aided by specialized dog squads to search and rescue more effectively.
