In a significant move to bolster cow welfare, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a grant of Rs 88.50 crore for cow shelters across the state on Saturday. Speaking at a gathering in Kurukshetra, Saini emphasized the government's growing support, noting the increase from a mere Rs 2 crore budget for gaushalas in 2014 to the current substantial allocation. "Today, I am pleased to announce a grant of Rs 1.80 crore for fodder to 19 cow shelters in Kurukshetra district alone," he declared, highlighting a cumulative allocation of Rs 358.50 crore for registered cow shelters over the past decade.

The Chief Minister further underlined the administration's dedication to ensuring the safety and nourishment of cattle, describing fodder provision as a key priority. Earlier, in a demonstration of his broad social commitment, CM Saini distributed Rs 76 crore to 2,020 families under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana (DAYALU) at an event in Chandigarh. "This event is aimed at providing solace to families affected by the loss of a member," Saini stated, explaining the financial support distributed today and acknowledging the scheme's cumulative distribution of Rs 1,380 crore since its inception.

The DAYALU scheme, focused on families with annual incomes below Rs 1.80 lakh, offers assistance ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, depending on the age of the deceased or disabled member. Saini also announced upcoming infrastructure projects, revealing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate six major road projects for Delhi NCR and Haryana, valued at Rs 11,000 crore, on August 17.
