DK Shivakumar Accuses BJP of Politicizing Dharmasthala Issues

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has issued a sharp rebuke to the BJP, accusing them of lacking genuine concern for Dharmasthala while merely using the situation for political leverage. At a press briefing at his Sadashiva Nagar residence, Shivakumar remarked, "The BJP showed no concern when the 'maskman' filed a complaint. Now, they attempt to capitalize politically. They behave as if Hinduism is their monopoly and view Dharmasthala merely as a political tool."

Addressing BJP's stance on the Dharmasthala visit, he questioned their silence during crucial moments, saying, "Why remain quiet when the complaint arose and when we established the SIT? Our priority is safeguarding Dharmasthala's sanctity, not political maneuvering. Justice must prevail." On the demand for narco analysis, he acknowledged, "The demand isn't unfounded. But why does the BJP react now, post-SIT formation? Investigation will remain independent."

Responding to BJP leaders endorsing his conspiracy theory statement regarding the Dharmasthala case, Shivakumar clarified, "It's based on my experience, yet I refrain from investigative intrusion. Our leadership championed Dharmasthala's cause earlier than BJP. The Chief Minister pledges fair justice. Investigative procedures, including the excavation at relevant sites, proceed without interference."

Commenting on the demise of Sri Chandrashekara Swamiji of Vishwa Vokkaliga Mutt, he expressed, "A venerable seer, his contributions are immeasurable. May he rest in peace." Acknowledging the seer's support for his aspiration as Chief Minister, Shivakumar added, "His blessings were invaluable, and my respect for him tremendous."
