On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited the Hare Krishna Mandir in North Guwahati. He offered prayers calling for peace, harmony, and prosperity for all societal sections, commemorating Lord Krishna's birthday—an enduring symbol of dharma, karma, and truth.
Governor Acharya remarked on Lord Krishna's embodiment of truth and guidance in overcoming life's challenges with grace, urging society to adopt a righteous and purposeful path to bolster ethical standards, particularly amid social and moral uncertainties. The Governor praised the Hare Krishna Mandir for organizing the festival in a way that deepened the devotees' connection to Lord Krishna's teachings.
In addition, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also extended Janmashtami greetings via a post on X, recognizing the significance of Lord Krishna's birth, celebrated on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in Bhadrapad. While observed nationwide, Mathura and Vrindavan hold special importance as his birthplace and playground of his childhood 'baal leela'. The midnight Krishna Abhishek in Mathura's temples features a ritual bathing of the deity amid rhythmic hymns and conch shells echoing.
