India's Russian Oil Purchases Spark US Tensions
Peter Navarro criticizes India for funding Russia's war through crude purchases and warns against strengthening ties with Russia and China. He suggests that India risks its strategic partnership with the US and cautions American firms on transferring advanced military tech to India.
The White House's trade adviser, Peter Navarro, has criticized India's ongoing purchases of Russian crude oil, stating that the transactions are indirectly funding Moscow's war efforts in Ukraine and should cease immediately.
Navarro further expressed concerns about India's increasing proximity to both Russia and China, suggesting that these actions may jeopardize its strategic relations with the United States. In an op-ed published in the Financial Times, he emphasized the importance of India aligning its foreign policies with those of its allies, if it seeks to be recognized as a key strategic partner of the US.
He also pointed out the potential risks American companies face in transferring advanced military capabilities to India, considering the current geopolitical affiliations.
