In a historic boost to Bihar's infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Aunta-Simaria bridge on NH-31. Slated for August 22, the 8.15 km bridge, featuring a 1.86 km span over the Ganga River, is constructed at a cost of Rs 1,870 crore to vastly improve connectivity between Mokama in Patna and Begusarai.

This new six-lane bridge is built parallel to the aging Rajendra Setu, a 2-lane rail-cum-road bridge currently in poor condition that has imposed inconvenient re-routing for heavy vehicles. It will shorten travel distances by over 100 km for traffic between North Bihar regions and South Bihar cities. The development is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion and promote economic growth, especially in North Bihar.

The Prime Minister will also unveil other major projects, including the Bakhtiyarpur to Mokama section of NH-31 and the Bikramganj-Dawath-Dumraon NH-120 improvements, enhancing rural connectivity and economic prospects. Additionally, the Buxar Thermal Power Plant promises to meet rising energy demands, while the Muzaffarpur Cancer Hospital offers advanced cancer care facilities. Important sewerage and water supply initiatives align with Modi's Swachh Bharat mission.

These infrastructure advancements aim to foster growth across the region, including boosted rail connectivity with new train services and the symbolic Grih Pravesh ceremony for PMAY beneficiaries. With these comprehensive projects, Bihar is on a pathway to transform both its physical and economic landscape. (ANI)
