Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has initiated a collaborative venture with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, focusing on the redevelopment of 'Chotelal Ki Ghat.' This historic site, dating back to the 1870s, will witness a transformation involving an investment of up to Rs 5 crore.
The initiative is supported by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) as part of IHCL's commitment to preserving cultural heritage under governmental programs like Namami Gange and Swachhata. IHCL's Executive Vice President, Gaurav Pokhariyal, emphasized the site's potential to enhance community connection with the river.
The redevelopment project will see cooperation with heritage conservation entities, aiming not just to restore but also to enhance the site's public and tourist appeal, as highlighted by Rathendra Raman, Chairman of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata.
