In a bid to revitalize traditional crafts and empower artisans, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Vishwakarma Scheme on his birthday, September 17, 2023. This initiative seeks to modernize age-old trades with financial and technological support, reflecting India's cultural heritage and stride towards self-reliance.

Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has emerged as a leading state in implementing the PM Vishwakarma Scheme effectively. Over Rs 390 crore in loans has been approved for more than 43,000 artisans, with significant disbursements already benefiting 32,000 beneficiaries. The scheme's impact is evident in the enhanced skills and economic well-being of Gujarat's artisans.

The PM Vishwakarma Scheme promises transparency and inclusivity, employing a three-level verification process to ensure credible registration. Beyond financial aid, over 1.81 lakh artisans in Gujarat have received training to hone their craft. The dedicated state-level helpdesk has resolved over 17,500 queries, bolstering trust and participation among artisans. Covering 18 traditional occupations, the scheme breathes new life into trades essential to rural economies.
