India is poised to transform its maritime sector, with projections of Rs 80 lakh crore in investments and the creation of 1.5 crore jobs, as announced by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
The nation's maritime advancement is part of a larger vision to establish India as a global maritime superpower, with sustainability and economic growth at its core. The Sagarmala programme spearheads this transformation, with 840 projects, of which 272 have already been completed.
A landmark project, the Vadhavan Port in Maharashtra, is set to be among the world's top 10 container ports, promising 12 lakh jobs. Kerala plays a crucial role, with major expansions at the Cochin Port. These efforts are expected to attract global partners as India Maritime Week 2025 approaches.
